An Elderly Man With Alzheimer’s Went Missing… But He Wasn’t Lost. Wait Til You See Where He Was.

Alzheimer’s disease is a terrible condition that steals away loved ones from us by destroying their minds. Over the years, they begin to forget who they are and who is around them. Although the mind may forget, the heart never does, and this touching story proves just that. Three years ago, Melvyn Amrine was diagnosed with the disease. Ever since then, he has faded away and his wife Doris lovingly took care of him. They had been married for 60 years. When he suddenly went missing, Doris was in a panic.

Melvyn went missing before Mother’s Day.

Daily Mail

His loving wife was frantic to find him. He had Alzheimer’s disease and could get himself hurt or lost.

Daily Mail

Luckily, cops finally located him. When he returned home, he had a big bouquet of roses for his wife.

Daily Mail

Melvyn was trying to buy her flowers, so the two officers helped him complete his task.

Daily Mail

(H/T Daily Mail) Every year since the birth of their first child, Melvyn had bought his wife a large bouquet of flowers. In a moment of clarity, he realized what day it was going to be soon and went out to bring them home to her. Even though he cannot remember when he proposed to Doris or how, he knows that he loves her very much and wanted to show her that (even if he needed some help). This is the kind of story that breaks your heart – and warms it – all at once. Share it.

It Might Look Like A Leaf But It’s Not… It Happens To Be Ridiculously Adorable. Aww.

Imagine yourself walking through the woods. You see a pretty-colored leaf and reach down to pick it up. As soon as it’s in your hand, it begins to move. To your horror, surprise and forthcoming heart attack, you realize it’s not a leaf at all! It’s a leaf insect and they are all around you, fooling you with their awesome camouflage.

These little guys take on the still and nearly-perfect appearance of a leaf to hide from predators.

Some species of leaf insect even look like they have bites taken out of their leaves.

When these critters walk, they even rock back and forth, mimicking the movement of a leaf.

If you’re a world traveler, you can find these insects from South Asia through Southeast Asia to Australia.

They are generally known to be part of the Family Phylliidae.

I’m fooled, every single time I look at one.

Leaf insects are tiny, adorable masters of disguise.

… I still wouldn’t touch one, though.

Although these leaf insects can be pretty strange looking, they’re still much cuter than their cousin, the stick insect.

Share and warn your friends. The next leaf you might crumble up on a walk may actually be a cute little bug!

Dogs Don’t Judge Their Humans For Anything, Even Being Homeless. So Touching.

The population of homeless people in America is not shrinking, and it’s something most of us try to ignore. We turn a blind eye when we walk down the street and push it out of our minds so we don’t have to feel guilty or weird or unsettled by their unfortunate circumstance. But for many of the homeless fighting stay alive each day, they’re able to find hope through the unwavering love of their companions: dogs.

Unlike us, these animals don’t care that their owners have fallen on such hard times. Many of their owners sacrifice having their own meals in order to make sure their best friends don’t go hungry. Organizations like Pets of the Homeless have set out to offer aid to these beloved animals by providing food and veterinary assistance to homeless animals across the United States and Canada. They have also shared these sobering photos of the pets with their owners showing how undeniable and powerful the bond is between each of them.

Take a look.

This Changes Absolutely EVERYTHING I Thought About Insects. I’ll Never Swat One Ever Again.

If you were sitting outside on a beautiful, sunny day, and something buzzed near your face… what would you do? My immediate reaction would be overwhelming annoyance, but after seeing these photos, I’m going to rethink that. John Hallmén is a photographer who focuses on taking macro and microscopic photos of insects, showing us what they really look like… His stunning photographs may take you by surprise.

You may not realize that these creatures are so beautiful in passing.

Some may even consider these little bugs cute.

This ant says “SMILE!”

Once you get over your heebie jeebies, you may see that these insects are quite amazing.

They are so tiny and delicate.

The photographer was able to capture the fragile details of each insect.

Who knew that a bug could be so fuzzy?

Or downright adorable?

The macro photos of insects aren’t always beautiful. Some are terrifying, no matter how close up you get.

I feel bad about swatting these little guys, now.

Did you know that moths are just as pretty as their more dramatic butterfly cousins?

I would very much love to take this guy home with me and name him Frankie the Fly.

Each of these photos were taken by John in a nature reserve by his home in Stockholm, Sweden. It’s amazing to see just what these insects look like up-close. Bees, ants, spiders and flies have been hiding their secret, beautiful identities from us. To see more of his work, visit his Flickr photo stream or online portfolio. What This Guy Came Home To Is My Worst Nightmare. Seriously, Get Me Out Of Here.

Redditor underdog106 had been noticing bees flying around his apartment for a few weeks before finding the cause. When looking through the attic he found a massive bee hive, a full on colony of the little honey producing guys. He then did what anyone would do in that situation, he called in a bee expert to come and remove the hive.

What happened next was an insane stroke of bad luck. Literally a few hours before the bee keeper was scheduled to arrive the hive dislodged and fell through the attic floor, crashing down into a bathroom below and leaving a whole lotta mess!

When ‘underdog’ came home he grabbed his camera and documented everything that was to happen next:

Came home to this! – The bee keeper was scheduled to come today at 5pm. It was a very warm day in Columbia, SC. The bee hive was heavy and the structure detached and fell through the ceiling. It turns out the old owners of the house used 1/4 inch sheet rock for the ceiling in the bathroom. Which is absurd and ridiculous. Jerry (the bee keeper) came as soon as he could, and he drove an entire hour to get here. The hive fell 3 hours before he was supposed to come today. What are the odds? Seriously. What are the odds!

Most of the hive fell. As you can see. But we were still able to save around 12,000 out of the estimated 30,000 bee hive.

Jerry arrived from Newberry as fast as he could! This guy is awesome.

The first “selfie” I have ever taken. And the last.

Lighting the smoker.

I got to suit up.

This is the box we were hoping to use.

Welcome to the bees. You should know, they fell through the ceiling three hours before the bee keepers arrival.

So much honey, so many bees.

First load of comb.

The floor is covered in honey.

What is left in the attic.

My kitchen knife was a great tool to cut it all out.

This picture just has bad-ass written all over it. He is also showing me a drone.

More of the attic.

Filling it right up.

That is a clean as it gets today!

Hopefully the rest here and the rest that come back from gathering pollen will swarm outside and not in.

The aftermath.

More Aftermath.

The bees are so full of sugar now they are docile.

View from the attic now.

View from the attic. Bees are still everywhere.

More Aftermath.

Eating the honey from the box that got on the ground.

The landlord is not afraid either. Tough lady.

Some of the honeycomb I saved. (A lot was crushed. Imagine a very heavy honey water balloon).

All I can say is good thing no one was sitting on that toilet when the hive came crashing through the ceiling.
